Day 28: Become a Movie Extra
Greetings Everyone!
You won't believe that movies are being made in towns that you consider "Your back yard". Movie Production Companies have began to branch out and look for new locations to shoot their films, and at anytime a movie can be in production near you.
Have you ever thought of being in movies? Maybe as a lead, having a speaking part, or as an extra?
If so, you are in luck. The possibilities have increased tremendously with all the cable, and streaming networks competing for new content.
Independent film makers have gotten a leg up because of this, and cities that was never known for film production are now shooting films.
If you are interested in working with films, you should read up on what it will take to audition for roles. If you plan to have a speaking part, or try for a Lead position, it would be seriously recommended that you have some acting experience, and a good memory. To become an extra however, you will not. The following minimums are required to be an extra, and to find available listings in your area. If you are willing to travel, make sure to let the company know. Big production companies may pay for travel, but don't expect that from smaller companies. The average pay for being an extra is $8-$11 an hour + lunch/copy of film.
